Tiffany (OCDC Executive Director) with a certificate of participation in YIP at the 2017 YiP Gala on May 18th

This year the OCDC participated in The Winnipeg Foundation’s ‘Youth in Philanthropy’ Program. Students at Vincent Massey School contacted the office to arrange a meeting with one of our board members in order to learn more about the OCD Centre and what kind of gaps a small grant could fill. Dianne Budgell (co-chair president) was happy to sit and chat with participants to explain what OCD is and how our organisation services the Winnipeg and Manitoba community through peer-support group meetings and education/outreach projects. We were incredibly lucky to be chosen as recipients of a small grant that will help us purchase a laptop for educational presentations and help us to train our support group facilitators. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be a part of YiP in 2017!

The Youth in Philanthropy program is an initiative created by The Winnipeg Foundation to introduce high-school students to the idea of philanthropy and community outreach and development. There are currently 23 different participating schools and community youth organisations, and since it’s conception the YiP Program has granted more than 1.5  million dollars!
